Satan's Defeat

Exciting news for St. Stephen's and Catholics in and around the Diocese of Cleveland.

Michael Voris of Church Militant TV will be coming to St. Stephen's to give a FREE conference entitled Satan's Defeat. The conference is Saturday, March 2, at 7pm, in the church. A free will offering will be accepted.

Then, on Sunday, March 3, Michael Voris and the crew will film an episode of the Vortex at the 9:30am Latin High Mass.

Masses: Ash Wednesday

The Latin Mass schedule for Ash Wednesday is as follows.

7am Low Mass, Immaculate Conception, Cleveland

5:15pm High Mass, St. Sebastian

5:30pm Low Mass, St. Stephen (Nota bene: the Wed 6:30pm Mass has been moved)

7:30pm High Mass, Immaculate Conception, Cleveland

Mass Time Incorrect

The email about Immaculate Conception's Mass time for the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes incorrectly stated 7am. The Mass is at 6pm.

Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday, or as is more commonly known today, Fat Tuesday. The day before Lent begins. Also known as Pancake Tuesday.

The Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is known as Shrovetide, from the Old English word shrive, meaning "to confess." It was traditional for Catholics to go to confession on these days to prepare for Lent. Just as Catholics would clean out their pantry and use up fats, eggs and butter (pancakes), preparing for the penitential fast during Lent, a cleansing of the soul was needed to begin Lent spiritually fresh.

We are reminded that St. Stephen's has a 7am Low Mass on Tuesdays.
